I tried with the serial and device ID of the other FR, and both were recognized flawlessly. For this to work on Windows, you must install the Garmin driver. For models connected via USB, we recommend use of the usb: filename. The I continued investigating and found an strage thing: if I enter the serial number or the device ID at support page, it shows the error " We don't recognize that product". For models where the connection on the GPS is a serial interface, be sure the GPS is set for 'Garmin mode' in setup and that nothing else (PDA hotsync programs, gpsd, getty, pppd, etc.) is using the serial port. I have contacted support by chat, we did a lot of things with no luck. The smartphone finds the watch, prompts for the bluetooth security code, it connects, and when trying to sync then watch shows "Transfer failed", and Garmin Connect shows "Pairing error". Can't add this device because our servers are unavailable at this moment". In computer, when I try to add to Garmin Express, I get the error "Forerunner 235 - Serial Number: Unit ID: 39900. The problem isn't software: I have another FR 235 that connects flawlessly to my computer and phone. It's completelly functional (GPS, HR sensor, etc.) except for one thing: I can't connect to my smartphone or to my computer.
